The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the impactful initiatives of his administration, particularly the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing the student-loan scheme as a laudable intervention capable of transforming the lives of thousands of Nigerian youths.
Gusau, while speaking in Abuja on the importance of government policies that directly improve the welfare and future prospects of young Nigerians, particularly, youth development, said he had personally come across more than 2,000 undergraduate students, who are benefiting from the student-loan initiative.
According to the Zamfara born Football Administrator, the NELFUND programme is giving many students from less-privileged backgrounds an opportunity to pursue their academic dreams without allowing financial difficulties to terminate their education.
The NFF President's commendation further underscores the growing recognition of policies designed to invest in human capital and empower the younger generation, describing such initiatives as investments in Nigeria's future.
Gusau also assured football stakeholders that significant reforms are imminent in the country's football statutes, signalling the determination of the NFF leadership to strengthen the administrative and legal framework governing Nigerian football.
He noted that the proposed reforms would be aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency and overall development of the game while ensuring that Nigerian football remains responsive to modern realities and international best practices.
The NFF President's position reflects his administration's stated commitment to building a stronger football structure, improving governance and creating an environment where players, coaches, administrators and other stakeholders can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the sport.
As Nigeria continues to seek greater achievements on the global football stage, stakeholders will be watching closely as the promised statutory reforms unfold.
For Gusau, supporting progressive government policies while pursuing institutional reforms within football represents a broader vision of building a stronger Nigeria through education, sports and youth development.
