FLIGHT FC GBOKO (TRANSPORTERS) ADVANCE 4️⃣ - 2️⃣ ON PENALTIES TO THE FINALS OF IFEANYI EKWUEME TICO SELECT PRESEASON TOURNAMENT 2026



The hunger paid off. As underdogs, Flight FC Gboko have written themselves into TICO Select history and booked a place in this year’s final.


After a tough opening loss to NPFL champions Enugu Rangers 3️⃣ - 2️⃣, the Transporters steadied the ship. A 1️⃣ - 0️⃣ win over Excellent FC all in the early stage followed by another 0️⃣ - 1️⃣ victory  against NPFL newcomers Doma United in the Quarterfinals, then a penalty shootout victory 4️⃣ - 2️⃣ against INGAS FC after the game ended 0️⃣ - 0️⃣ at full time in the Semi-Finals


The semi-final was a different kind of battle. Tight, tense, and decided by moments of individual brilliance between the sticks.

For the first time ever in the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO Select Preseason Tournament, one team played two goalkeepers in a single match and it worked. *Bartholomew Tarnande* started and delivered a full-time clean sheet. Calm, commanding, and impossible to beat over 90 minutes. *Donnie Teryima* came on and immediately made his mark. With the game heading to penalties, Teryima, produced a world-class penalty save that swung the shootout and earned Flight FC their berth in the final. Two keepers. One clean sheet. One decisive save. History made.

For the first time, the TICO Select final will feature goalkeepers from the same state going head to head. Transporters come in with options and momentum. De Rice Boys come in with their own wall in Korzer.

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The two time CAF Champions League holders defeated their visitors 2-0 but it appeared that the result did not go down well with the Sporting Director due to the fact that the coach did not yield to his substitution directives during the first half of the match. At the first half, our correspondent scooped that the Sporting Director at the end of the first half pushed the coach and followed him inside the dressing room and then punched him. Monday Odigie is Yet to Sign official Contract with Bayelsa United But...

By: Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR) Former Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie, has not signed a dotted line with Bayelsa United therefore, he has no contractual poweŕ to resign as it's being rumoured.  Odigie who was reported to have hit the ground running immediately after he was called to thinker the Prosperity Boys anticipated a much accelerated contractual deal but the bureaucratic bottleneck from the Management to the Governor led to the slow pace of action in finalising the deal . While a source disclosed that the Edo born gaffer departed the club after losing back to back games against Niger Tornadoes and Enyimba FC of Aba, another source hinted that what the club offered fell below par and he got pissed off. According to an insider, "What people don’t know is that he has not been officially signed to be our coach. A deal hasn’t  been agreed with the club.
