Bayelsa Queens Grind 1-0 Victory Over Hardfighting Pacesetters Queens in Ibadan

Bayelsa Queens were on Wednesday, 1st April, 2026, defeated Pace Setters Queens 1-0 in the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership Season held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan


Hitting woodword twice with a goal scoring bound missed by the unlucky Pace Setters Queens, the performance of Ibadan based side was applauded by the teeming fans but fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to the Prosperity Girls. 

Glory Edet scored the only goal of the contest in the 80th minute as Bayelsa Queens moved to second position in Group A of the NWFL Premiership with 28 points.


The Pace Setters missed goal scoring opportunities in the second half as their efforts were thwarted by the defense and the goalkeeper of the Prosperity Girls, as the home team surrendered to a damaging defeat for their hopes of staying in the NWFL Premiership.

With the Bayelsa Queens win, this makes it 9th of their past 11 league matches, thus putting the Prosperity Girls on course to play in the 2025/26 NWFL Super Six.

“The band magic was the determination by my gurls. They did enough to deserve the today because it was not an easy tadk,” Bayelsa Queens Technical Adviser Whyte Ogbonda said.

Ogbonda said it was one of their best wins of the season, not in terms of performance but desire and heart.

“Honestly, I must commend the fighting spirit of my girls, their  resilient and determination to get the job done is amazing and they played as a unit”, Coach Whyte Ogbonda added.

Next for Bayelsa Queens FC is a home match against Ibom Angels at the Samson Saisai Stadium, Ovom, Yenagoa, on the 8th of April, 2026.
