NNL Reschedules Matches For Sallah Holiday



The board of Nigeria National League ( NNL) has announced the rescheduling of Weeks 13 and 15 of it's conferences to enable players and officials observe the forthcoming Salah holidays.


According to a press release  signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the second tier League, Danlami Alanana, and addressed to secretaries of all state football associations and clubs, the rescheduling of the matches became necessary because the Salah holidays coming up on the 20th-21st March, 2026, coincides with weekend matches of Week 13 of conferences C& D and week 15 of Conferences A& B.

The statement, noted that the matches have been moved to  mid- week of March, 25, 2026.

Meanwhile, some of the matches affected in Conference A are Sunshine Stars against Smart City, Inter Lagos versus Heartland, Edel Fc Versus Abia Comets and Crown Fc against Beyond Limits while Gateway Fc are  on Bye.

That of Conference B includes; First Bank Fc against Solution Fc, Osun Utd versus Stormers Fc, Sporting Lagos versus Rovers Fc, Godswill Akpabio against Akwa Utd and Ekiti Utd against Abakiliki Fc.

Also in Conference C, we have City Fc against Sokoto Utd, Lobi Stars and Kada Warriors, Doma Fc versus Mighty Jets and the match between Fc Basara and ABS.

That of Conference D includes; Adamawa Utd against Gombe Utd, Ranchers Bees versus Kebbi Utd and Jigawa Golden Stars against Bichi First Fc while Yobe Desert Stars are on Bye.

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The two time CAF Champions League holders defeated their visitors 2-0 but it appeared that the result did not go down well with the Sporting Director due to the fact that the coach did not yield to his substitution directives during the first half of the match. At the first half, our correspondent scooped that the Sporting Director at the end of the first half pushed the coach and followed him inside the dressing room and then punched him. Monday Odigie is Yet to Sign official Contract with Bayelsa United But...

By: Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR) Former Bendel Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie, has not signed a dotted line with Bayelsa United therefore, he has no contractual poweŕ to resign as it's being rumoured.  Odigie who was reported to have hit the ground running immediately after he was called to thinker the Prosperity Boys anticipated a much accelerated contractual deal but the bureaucratic bottleneck from the Management to the Governor led to the slow pace of action in finalising the deal . While a source disclosed that the Edo born gaffer departed the club after losing back to back games against Niger Tornadoes and Enyimba FC of Aba, another source hinted that what the club offered fell below par and he got pissed off.
