...Backs Sports Commission’s Drive For Infrastructure Upgrade Nationwide
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) on his well-deserved honour as Sports Personality of the Year by the New Telegraph Newspapers.
SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a letter, signed by the Association's Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, in Abuja on Thursday, remarked that the award to the NSC DG is a testament to his unequalled passion, philanthrpic disposition and contributions to Nigeria sports.
"Truly, you have earned this recognition, particularly due to your kindness, benevolence and indeed your healthy and highly professional working relationship with the Nigeria Media over the years, and in recent times.
"Your dogged and unmatched resolve recently ensured that members of the Sporting Media were outstandingly carried along in attending recently held Africa Cup of Nations in. Morocco. We are grateful for ensuring our welfare was top notch; stay and movement from one match venue/city to another seamless in all ramifications.
"We are confident that your vision and leadership drive will continue to speak for you. Wishing you continued success and impact in sports development.
"May this achievement and your numerous disposition to the Sporting Media bring you joy and fulfillment, always, even as we assure you of enhanced Media relations and more," part of the letter reads.
The President of SWAN then urged Hon. Olopade to sustain his result-oriented operational approach in handling day-to-day activities of the NSC, in collaboration with the NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko who he described as a man with the central of performance in the Nigeria sporting ecosystem.
"As sporting media, we have observed how both leaders of the NSC have joined hands in steadily galvanising needed efforts in ensuring that Sports development is taking to a whole new heights," he said.
He noted that their resolve to pursue and achieve top level upgrade and total restructuring of Nigeria's Sports infrastructure, including stadiums and other facilities is a welcomed development, that requires all the support
