Mohammed's Rise Propels Enyimba's Revival


Enyimba's versatile young midfielder, Isah Mohammed, has emerged as a pivotal figure in the team's resurgence, spearheading their charge to reclaim former glory. 


The Aba-based club, a nine-time Nigerian league champion and two-time African Champions, had faced a decline in performance and silverware in recent years, but Mohammed's arrival has injected much-needed vitality into the squad.


Joining Enyimba mid-season last year, the 19-year-old Abuja-born talent quickly made his presence felt, impressing with consistent performances before a tough injury forced him to the sidelines. However, under the guidance of interim coach Lawrence Ekeagwu, a former Nigerian international, Mohammed has continued to thrive, showcasing his skill and vision on the pitch.

His latest contribution came in Enyimba's impressive 3-0 thrashing of Shooting Stars in their last match of the year, where he provided a clever assist to set the tone for the victory. Alleged Poor Officiating; Kano Pillars/3SC Match Officials Suspended, Nasarawa/Rangers Referee

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The three referees were suspended indefinitely.

Shooting Stars unveil new signings, departed players

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, have confirmed the signing of eight fresh legs to beef up their squad for the second  round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.  A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.  Some of the new acquisions mentioned include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars,  Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.  Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.  Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.  In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume....
