NNL: Referee Victor Nyah Under Fire For Biased Officiating.



Following his award of questionable penalty in an NNL match involving Rovers Football Club C of Calabar and Ekiti United at the UJ. Esuene Stadium Calabar, the NFF Referring Committee has stepped down indefinitely Nyah Victor of Akwa Ibom State Referring Council from all league matches and other matches.


In a letter to that effect signed by the Committee's Chairman Mohammed Ameenu and sent to him through the Akwa Ibom State FA and copied to the President of NFF, the Secretary General and the NNL Chairman, the committee noted that the unjustified penalty was not in line with the provisions of the Laws of the Game.

"Our investigation discovered that you awarded an unjustified penalty in the match between Rovers FC and Ekiti United. Your action did not only negatively affect the outcome of the match but equally brings the game to
disrepute.

" In view of this, you have been indefinitely stepped down from all league matches and other matches", concludes the statement.

Alleged Poor Officiating; Kano Pillars/3SC Match Officials Suspended, Nasarawa/Rangers Referee

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The three referees were suspended indefinitely.

Shooting Stars unveil new signings, departed players

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, have confirmed the signing of eight fresh legs to beef up their squad for the second  round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.  A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.  Some of the new acquisions mentioned include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars,  Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.  Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.  Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.  In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume....
