2025/2026 NNL League Opener : Aluo impressed with fans attendance in Lafia


Chairman of Nigeria National League ( NNL), Mr. George Aluo says he's highly impressed with the massive turnout of fans at the Lafia City Stadium for the opening match of the new season.


The 2025/2026 season of the second tier league officially kicked off Saturday, November, 8, 2025 at the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa State with home team Basira Fc locking horns with Mighty Jets of Jos in the Conference C of the League.

Aluo noted that the large number of fans who trooped to the stadium to cheer their team in the North Central derby is an indication that the league has quality; saying that the fans deserves commendation.

"I'm highly impressed with the large turnout of fans who came to cheer their team to victory in the opening match and I am looking forward to see such large turnout of fans in other league venues 

"It's equally important that I thank Lafia fans for coming out en mass to support  their team and I urge them to keep the flag flying", Aluo said

Meanwhile, the match which was watched by the Nasarawa State Governor, His Excellency , Engr. Abdullahi Sule and some members  of his executive,  saw Basira Fc beat Mighty Jets by 3-1.
At the end of the match, players of the winning team got their locker bonus of N,56, 000 courtesy of NNL partners, Betpawa
