FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Race: Adukwu Intensifies training ahead of She-Amavubi showdown in Ibadan

Ahead of Saturday’s 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup second round, second leg showdown between Falconets of Nigeria and She-Amavubi of Rwanda., the Head coach of the team, Moses Adukwu has stepped up training in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. 


The two-time World Cup silver medallists, Falconets,  had their third training session under heavy downpour on Tuesday morning with strict supervision of the Head coach Moses Adukwu, Usman Abdullahi and goalkeeper's trainer, Lateef Yusuf addressed grey areas.

 Earlier on Monday,  Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, who assured the team of the Oyo State Government’s unwavering support and encouragement, while offering prayers for its success in the crucial match.

Adukwu while speaking exclusively with Varsportnow.blogspot.com.ng correspondent, Sunday Agunbiade popularly known as Mr VAR thanked the government of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde and seek support of the football loving fans to cheer the team on the match day.

He assured Falconets’ readiness to put up a strong performance and triumph on the day as he focused on noticeable weakness of the team with a view to surpassing previous performance. 

In his words:

"FIirst and foremost, I want to say Ibadan is significant to me. It's my second home. This is where I played my first international match as a player against Tanzania and we won. Now, as a coach, This is the first time of bringing a female team game to Ibadan. I believe everything is working together for good."

"Yesterday, Monday, we had two training sessions and the girls are adapting well to the pitch. We are ready for Rwanda and I believe we are going to have a good game on Saturday."

 "Though, we lack scoring ability in the first game though we won with a lone goal but we are working seriously on it to have much better results this Saturday "says experience tactician.

Nigeria /She Amavubi match comes up on Saturday, 27th September, 2025 at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan by 4pm
