SWAN Hails Bashir Adeniyi's Tenure Extension As Comptroller-General Of Nigeria Customs

The National Leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Thursday congratulated Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his tenure extension as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

SWAN Secretary-General Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo in a statement on behalf the Association's President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, Friday, described the choice of extending CG Adeniyi's tenure as apt and deserving.

While reminiscing over the exploits of the Customs CG, the President of SWAN noted that Mr. Adeniyi has within a short time set a historic feat which will be difficult to march in the NCS.

He said, "On behalf of the teeming Sports Journalists in Nigeria, I'm delighted to congratulate Mr. Adewale Adeniyi on the deserved extension of his tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"The decision to retain Mr. Adeniyi as the Customs helmsman is one of the best moves geared towards consolidating the gains which the country's border security agency have made in recent times.

"It's on record that the Nigeria Customs number one man was recently elected the Chairperson of the Council of the World Customs Organisation (WCO). As the Nigeria Customs CG, Mr. Adeniyi will now concentrate on leading the global body to greater heights.

"Also, his commitment and passion for steering Nigeria Customs vis-a-vis making good use of its Corporate Social Responsibility resources to support Nigeria's sports development is one worthy of emulation by other government Para-Military agencies."

President Benjamin then expressed confidence that Mr. Adeniyi will further improve on the already recorded successes at the NCS with ongoing reforms even as he prayed for Allah's continuous guidance.
