Makanjuola Nureni Muhala, Water FC Boss, Among Nigeria’s 100 Most Influential Personalities

Abuja based iconic football Manager and Water FC Chairman, Makanjuola Nureni Muhala (MK), has been named among Nigeria’s 100 Most powerful Personalities
at the 2025 edition of the Progressive Awards, held at Barcelona Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja.


MK, who shortly after receiving the prestigious award expressed gratitude for recognizing him and reaffirmed his commitment to further evolving ideas that would translate to grassroots football development in Nigeria. In his words:


 “I want to sincerely return all glory to Almighty God and thank the Progressive Awards for recognizing my efforts in this country. This honour will further spur and motivate me to do even more for Nigerian sports, particularly football."

He added: "Without mincing words, this recognition comes at a time Nigerian football community have come in unison to appreciate my efforts at building grassroot football and I so much cherish it" Said Muhala

Water FC Chairman has been a phenomenal football manager and this recognition is no doubt a testament to MK’s exceptional contributions to the development of football in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots level. 


He founded and nurtured Water FC in Abuja and has created a platform that not only discovers and develops young talents but also transforms lives and communities.

MK’s journey in football began with a personal passion for the sport. But over the years, it evolved into a mission to tap into Nigeria’s deep reservoir of football talent, much of it hidden in overlooked communities. In founding Water FC, he created more than a club — he built a movement.

Under his leadership, Water FC has grown into a powerhouse of youth football development. The club boasts modern training facilities, elite-level coaching, and a comprehensive scouting network that spans the country. Players developed at Water FC have gone on to represent Nigeria at various levels, including the U-17 and U-20 World Cups. Notably, Michael Babatunde, a former Water FC product, has become a mainstay in professional football.
