New Dawn as Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Oyo State Chapter Supports Delivery of Women’s football Development Initiatives, WFDI Project



Recording high level of compliance from coaches across 33 local government of the state as Proponent of Women’s football Development Initiatives projects WFDI in the state.



Discussing with newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo state chapter, the Training Officer of the state.chapter, Coach Ayodeji  Adeyemo Charles noted that they are fully in support of Women’s football development. 

He said: "The NFCA,Oyo State Chapter is proud to support the delivery of the Women's Football Development Initiative, WFDI a project lead by Grace Towobola, the International Olympic Committee Young Leader for Nigeria. "

After a grand opening ceremony in June, the WFDI has designed several interventions to help improve female football in Nigeria among which is the 6-weeks free Coaches Leadership Training, CLT designed to improve the number of female football coaches in Nigeria. "

"The first cohort of the CLT began in Oyo state with an onboarding session in July where all participants received a coach pack comprising the official programme jersey and backpack, the CLT workbook and jotter, alongside featuring in the WFDI's official video sponsored and shot by Panasonic. 


The CLT continued in August with 4 weeks online training for participants who will use the knowledge and skills gained from the training to develop female football teams. With 12 coaches (6 female and 6 male) meeting the criteria for progression and successfully making it to the final stage of the CLT,the first cohort will end with a one week in-person (practical) session from the 2nd - 7th of September, 2024  at the WFDI Building, Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. 
At the end of the training, the top 3 coaches will receive free football equipments to help support their coaching delivery alongside free one-to-one career mentorship for a year. 
All 12 coaches will receive further coaching education and will be paired with 4 Coach Developers helping to support their journeys as football coaches.
