3SC Chairman, Akoro Urges Players to Beat Rivers United


Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, has tasked the team to go  for the maximum points against Rivers United on Sunday.

Ahead of the matchday 35 fixture billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Honourable Akoro, in company of the General Manager, Dimeji Lawal, met with the players and their officials after Thursday's morning training session.

While addressing the players, the 3SC boss applauded them for their splendid performance against Abia Warriors last Sunday, tasking them to consolidate on the result with another win over Rivers United come Sunday.


"We have a target and I believe the target is still achievable if we keep winning our games. I am urging you to go to Port Harcourt and secure the maximum points.

"You can see how our fans tripped out in large numbers during our last game. They are solidly behind us and if we can do it again against Rivers United, which I believe is possible, you will see more of them," stated the former Deputy Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly.

Captain of the team, Malomo Taofeek, while reacting on behalf of the players, expressed the readiness of the team to fight till the end, assuring that they will do their best to secure victory on Sunday.

Alleged Poor Officiating; Kano Pillars/3SC Match Officials Suspended, Nasarawa/Rangers Referee

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The three referees were suspended indefinitely.

Shooting Stars unveil new signings, departed players

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, have confirmed the signing of eight fresh legs to beef up their squad for the second  round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.  A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.  Some of the new acquisions mentioned include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars,  Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.  Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.  Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.  In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume....
