President Federation Cup: Inter Lagos Zoom to Round of 16, Beat Hammola FC 4-1 In Penalties

Inter Lagos on Wednesday defeated Hammola FC 4-1 via penalty Shootouts in the round of 32 of the 2024 President Federation Cup after playing a goaless draw at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan. 

The game started with huge anticipation from the highly rated Lagos based side having secured a Super 8 ticket in the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League Season, NNL and thus makes them an NPFL bound. Same expectations from the Osun based outfit, Hammola FC who sent parking Beyond Limits out of the oldest football competition. 


 The goalkeeper of Hammola FC ,Salahudeen Saheed was an eye catcher standing between the sticks and making great deal of saves denying Coach Gabriel Ezema boys several attempts and ensure the match ended goaless. 

It was the penalty that made the difference between the two sides with Inter Lagos putting 4 goals pass their Osun State outfit while the Osun football giant only replied one.

Speaking with the Head Coach of Inter Lagos, Gabriel Ezemo, he told Varsportnow.blogspot.com their team is still very young in Nigeria league and they prefer to maintain the underdog status for now.


According to former Assistant Coach of Rangers Football Club, he said: "We are first tmer in Federation Cup , and of course first in Nigeria league and we are ready to be deemed underdog."

The young and exciting tactician who won NPFL title and Federation cup noted that Federation Cup is a game of upset and the Hammola just resonated it.


"From the time immemorial, Federation Cup is a game full of upset and that is what we just witnessed here today against Hammola FC .  Even though I have watched few clips of Hammola FC with my match analyst and I knew what they are calpable of doing. In fact, they are good side. You can all see today that the penalty was the deciding factor that takes us to the round of 16 as a first time. It's a cheering news and I'm very excited today".
