NFF South South Member charges AKSFA to be focused for optimal results.







The South South member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Rt Hon Otuekong Nse Essien has expressed confidence that the current leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association (AKSFA) will perform above average and also charged them to work hard to achieve optimal results.

The NFF Zonal boss stated when the Chairman of AKSFA Mr Samuel Umoh and members of the Executive Board of the Association paid him a visit in his private office, Carabana Resort, Ifiayong in Uruan Local Government Area recently.


He described the Chairman and members of the new board as men of proven integrity that have the capacity to change the narrative.

He congratulated the Chairman and members for emerging winners in the election and believed that they will Leave up to expectations.

Essien who is the Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports advised the new board to pay more attention to grassroots football so as to discover young talents for the state and nation 

He advised the Board  not to depend solely on the government but should extend their tentacles to well meaning individuals and corporate citizens/ organizations for support and sponsorship of their programmes and activities.

The former lawmaker in the state charged the Board to revive the state league to help raise the standard of football in the state.

He said, "I want you to revive the state league, if you can do this, you will be able to raise the standard of football in the state, do not favour a particular team, treat all the teams the same, we must change the narrative for the betterment of football in the state"

He promised to support the Samuel Umoh led Executive to actualise its set targets.

The Member of the Board of the Nation Wide League, Dr Donald Ikpe who was in attendance in his speach congratulated the new board

He urged them to work as a team in order to breach the gap of disparity and any form of disunity in the football community in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of AKSFA, Mr Samuel Umoh said the visit was to officially express gratitude to the NFF South South member for his commitment in ensuring that the just concluded State FA election which gave birth to the current leadership was not only successful but peaceful.

Umoh said that one of the cardinal objectives of his administration is to develop grassroots football and also promised to work with the South South member and others to succeed.

Umoh also thank the NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and the entire board of the NFF for their support and encouragement while pledging total loyalty of the AKSFA to the NFF.
