Kanu Nwankwo U19 Inter-State Football Tournament Gathers Momentum in Aba

8 teams from Abia and Imo State will on Monday slug it out against each other in a battle to claim a sum of one Million Naira winning prize at the maiden edition of Kanu Nwankwo U19 Inter-State Football tournament.


Disclosing this to newsmen on Friday, former Super Eagles forward who doubles as Sporting Director, Enyimba Football Club of Aba, Ifeanyi Ekweme said the Kanu Nwankwo U19 Inter-State tournament will produce budding stars that would turn a world beater. 

The brain behind the tournament, Ekweme  explained that the top 8 teams had been carefully selected from two states, Abia and Imo to jostle for the coveted prize money while consolation prizes will be on hand

According to a one time Sporting Director of Heartland Football Club, he said:
"All is now set for the maiden edition of Kanu Nwankwo U19 Inter-state Football tournament. The competition is going to be between two states :Abia and Imo wherein 8 teams will jostle for the prize money of #1M. "

"The competition will commence on Monday 6th May and ends on Sunday, the 19th May, 2024. The venues are Abia Poly School Field and Enyimba International Stadium while Special recognition will be His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State.".

"That is not all, we are going to have our football legends live at the stadium with the Governor. They  are: Augustine Eguavoen ,Seyi Olofinjana, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babaginda, Uche Okechukwu, Ifeanyi Udeze, Finidi George, Samson Siasia, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and the host of other ex Internationals.
