Top 3 Finish Realistic fo 3SC- Omololu Waheed

Veteran Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan defender, Omololu Waheed Abiodun believes the team's quest for glorious finish in the 2024 season of the NPFL is very realistic, despite last Friday's 0-1 loss to Heartland  FC of Owerri.


The experienced central defender, told Shooting Stars Media that he remained upbeat about the possibility of the team returning to the continent.

"It was a match we had hoped to win to further enhance our push for the league title and a top three finish, but it didn't go our way.

"That's football for you. You win, draw or lose but I'm optimistic we will bounce back to winning ways on Sunday when we host Sunshine Stars.

"We must put that defeat behind us and focus on the remaining games with the sole aim of winning those games, which is a quite possible," added 'skippo' as he is fondly called.

The 3SC Players' Leader expressed confidence in the ability of the coach Gbenga Ogunbote led technical crew to lead the Oluyole Warriors to success this season, describing the former Remo Stars sweat merchant as 'one of the best tactician' in the land.

He attributed the recent impressive performance of the team to the commitment of the management, the determination of the players and the support of the teeming supporters and the fans.

"For all these, I think we deserve something rewarding at the end of the season, to appreciate our number one supporter, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde and tbe good people of this state as well as our fans across the globe", concluded the defense marshall.

Alleged Poor Officiating; Kano Pillars/3SC Match Officials Suspended, Nasarawa/Rangers Referee

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The three referees were suspended indefinitely.

Shooting Stars unveil new signings, departed players

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, have confirmed the signing of eight fresh legs to beef up their squad for the second  round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.  A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.  Some of the new acquisions mentioned include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars,  Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.  Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.  Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.  In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume....
