Kano Pillars Woes: 3SC 2-1 Wins Breaks 32 Years Jinx
By: Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR)
Taiwo Muritala and Christian Pyagbara's goals yesterday against Kano Pillars in their own backyard have entered an historic fact file of the Oluyole Warriors as contained in a Facebook page of the immediate Past Media Officer of Ibadan Soccer Lords, Honourable Jubril Bimbola Arowolo. According to the astute politician, he said
"Did you know that Shooting Stars SC's 2-1 win against hosts, Kano Pillars yesterday takes 32 years to happen?
The year 1992 (32 years ago) was the last time the Oluyole Warriors defeated Pillars in Kano at Sabongeri Stadium.
It also ended 2-1 in favour of the Shooting Stars with Shola Akinwale and Pascal Patrick scoring the goals.
In fact, Shooting Stars, then on CAF Cup engagements returned directly from Tunisia to Kano to achieve the feat. They eventually won the maiden CAF trophy donated by Chief MKO Abiola.
Can the history toe the same line for a continental slot this time? Time will tell!
