NFF Endorses Lameed Gafar As Lagos FA Chairman, Tasks them to Fill Vacant Position

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF on Wednesday endorsed the election that ushered in the popular club administrator, Hajj Olawake Gafar Liameed as the new chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA).



This was stated in a letter sent by the NFF on Wednesday to formally acknowledge and approve the impeachment of Honourable Fouad Oki as the LSFA’s chairman.

The NFF’s recognition of Hajj Gafar was antithetical to Oki's boasts to contest his removal during extraordinary emergency congress of the LSFA.

Signed by the acting Secretary-General of the nation's Football Governing Body, Ademola Olajire, the letter affirmed that the Oki's removal was in line with extant statues and noted the emergence of Gafar as LSFA’s new chairman.

This correspondence from The Football House in Abuja also effectively recognised and authenticated all decisions reached by the Extraordinary General Assembly/Congress that impeached Oki in the sports hall of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere on Saturday.

The NFF, however, gave a directive to the executive committee of the LSFA to urgently conduct an election to usher in a new vice-chairman at a later date.

The letter signed by Olajire stated in part: “I have the directive of the President of Nigeria Football Federation and the executive committee of the NFF to congratulate you on a successful EGA and to express satisfaction that the EGA has been conducted in consonance with the provisions of the statutes of the Lagos State Football Association.

“Further, I am pleased to inform you that the NFF has decided to fully recognise Hajj Liameed Gafar as the chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, as part of the outcomes of EGA.

“The NFF equally awaits the outcome of the LSFA executive meeting scheduled for the next few days to elect a new vice-chairman for the LSFA.”
