Introduce FA Cup Competition for Youths - Tony Emedofu
By Akintunde Akinsemola
As the NPFL Youth League entered Match Day Three with the day's ties ending all square, former Nigeria U17 and U20 international Tony Emedofu has craved an all encompassing Under-17 FA Cup competition for youths.
Emedofu aka Poropo who had hardly missed out on any game at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin venue of the NPFL Youth League, said the Youth FA Cup will accommodate other soccer clubs and players not plying their trade in Nigeria Premier Football League.
"After this Under-17 League, they should introduce FA Cup to involve everybody and so as to keep the youngsters busy hence the players will know they have something to achieve."
"A lot of these players are wasting away, waiting for scouts that will never come."
Poropo excitedly commended NFF and NPFL for inviting foreign scouts from Europe to have a glimpse of the talents Nigeria have to offer.
"Nigeria Football is rising and is getting to the next level. Had we been like this, we would not have had any problem. I have seen no fewer than three white men who are here because of these talented players. This is in addition to the presence of ex-Super Eagles like Seyi Olofinjana and Yakubu Ayegbeni."
Tony Emedofu said he would continue to celebrate the organizers hoping that they do not rest on their oars.
From three games, Plateau United have shot to the top of the table with five points following a 1-1 draw with Rangers International.
Rangers' Usoro Godswill cancelled out an own goal earlier scored by his team mate Amuji Chinonso.
Rivers United with a match in hand are in second position with four points same as third placed Katsina United who drew 2-2 with bottom club Remo Stars.
Daniel Ariehri was the two-goal hero for the rookies from Ikenne while Umar Rabiu and Aliyu Abass struck for Katsina United.
Plateau United are due to take on Remo Stars on Thursday just as Rivers United battle Rangers International.
