SWAN Crisis: there was no proper handing over to me as SWAN President---Isaiah Benjamin Voiced Out

The President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN ,had an interview on popular WhatsApp platform, Sports World co hosted by Ibadan based Sports journalist,  Sunday Agunbiade popularly known as Mr VAR and Wale Oye that he started his tenure with apparent nothing from his predecessors. 


According to Kogi State born erudite Journalist, who was once a two time Chairman of Kaduna State Chairman, SWAN

"There was no proper handing over by my immediate predecessor. As much as I respect him,there was no proper handing over and as I speak till now,there is no such proper handing over".

"However,we made frantic efforts,the process of having change of signatories is a little bit cumbersome,so it took us a lot of time to successfully change the signatories to the accounts and of course, immediately we took over,we need to hit the ground running.

"So because of the fact that there was no proper handing over,because it is a corporate account,there is the need to sign".

"One of the major challenges that I had with my predecessor is the fact that he wanted me to appoint somebody as the Treasurer and I was beginning to see that he was wanting to have all the NEC members appointed by him,I saw that it was not going to be good enough for us,so I said;

 "Let us take our time to study individuals that we know will serve the interest of the association. That is why,till now,we've not been able to appoint a Treasurer before these crises".

"However,when we had our very first NEC meeting during the National Youth Games,I told our members that,as we speak,we are yet to have details of the statement of accounts,to be able to tell what exactly we met,but as we speak now we have done all of that and we have all the statements of accounts now.
I am likely to paste the statements of accounts for all to see,from January to July,for all to see".

"The members of the NEC have failed to realise by statutes, that I am the Chief Accounting Officer and I don't take things for granted".

"If the NEC members want to be fair,they will tell you that I have given them a free hand on the financial dealings in Uyo,during the National Youth Games". The Kaduna based Sports icon concluded
