2023 AFCON :Fans Club of Nigeria Begs Federal Government to Come to their Aid in Ivory Coast



National President of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN, *Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa* has appealed to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please extend his financial gesture to her members who are currently in Cote d’Ivoire cheering the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

The multiple award winning Matriarch who spoke through the National Media Officer of the group, Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR), Supporters Boss, who recently won the Fan of the Match award from CAF in a match between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau that ended 1-0 in favour of the 3 times champions said the cost of living in Cote d’Ivoire is far above what is obtainable in Nigeria. 


The first woman in Africa to lead a Supporters Club explained that she chatters vehicles to and from the match venues to convey musical instruments, band guys, costumes and other logistic effects which is really affecting the members.

"Let me first of all appreciate the Golden Penny Foods who gave us their products to oil our stomach. not forgetting Mr Fruits for the varieties of drinks given to us. These 2 brands gave us their products but nobody gave us money. We deeply appreciate them as it has helped us a great deal in sustaining our members to this stage.This helps cushions the effects of economic hardship faced in this country. 


"To be honest, It has not been easy mobilizing our band boys, members, custumier and other logistics for side attraction"

 "We chatter vehicles to and fro the match venue without anyone giving us money. Most of the state and International chapters spend their hard earned money to come to Ivory Coast to cheer the Eagles to victory but only to be met with present economic climate ."

"Only few people have financial wherewithal to travel by flight while a lot of us spend 3 days on the road from lagos to cheer our darling Super Eagles. Our President is meant for all 

"It may surprise you to know that we are still going to another journey which will take us up to 24hrs on the road and we don't really have enough resources to cater for the trip. Therefore, we need to quickly call on our President to send money to us ."


"I like to passionately appeal to the Federal government ably led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please assist to enable us supporting the Eagles. 


Ambassador Ogunfuwa, having earlier dedicated the fan of the match award to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu noted that the President is a lover of Sports and father of all. It's on record that Mama Nigeria as Ogunfuwa is fondly called has won the CAF Fan of the match award for record third time.The Lagos based business tycoon won the award in 2018(AWCON), 2021 and 2023 AFCON.
