Elegbeleye Reveals Time and Format for the NPFL Youth League

Youths they say are the future of elevery society and a propeller to drive machinery towards advancement. Chairman, Nigeria Premier Football League , NPFL, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye in this regard has disclosed time and template designed in pipeline by the inaugurated Committee for the take off of youth league in Nigeria. 


Elegbeleye stated this while fielding questions in one of the leading online WhatsApp groups in Nigeria, *Sports World Platform* and the programme is tagged *Super Interview* With top personalities in Sporting world. 

Co hosted by Ibadan based Sports journalist, Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR and Brila FM reporter, Mohammed Saliu (Misaliu), the astute football administrator informed that a committee had been set up to see to the successful take off of the league and Pastor Emeka Inyama is the Chairman.

According to the Second Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, he said the hostilities will return amongst the youths during Mid season break. 


Addressing questions sent in by Coordinator, Shooting Stars Football Academy, *Coach Ayodeji Adeyemo Charles*, Elegbeleye noted that the committee are at avance stage and they will swing into action at the mid'seasin . In his words;" thanks Coach Ayodeji Adeyemo,  well, a committee had been set up for the Youth League as It's part of club licensing criteria that all clubs in the Premier League must have their youth team and that is why we have recently appointed a committee of seven (7) headed by Pastor Emeka Inyama.

"Other members of the Committee include the Chairman of Benue State Football Association, Barrister Paul Ede, ex-international, Patrick Paschal, Sabo Abdullahi Eka, Nicholas Morris Kemeghde and the Lagos State FA Vice Chairman, Gafar Liameed who is also the proprietor of NNL Side, 36 Lions. NPFL Head of Competitions, Dr. Sunday Obaseki will serve as Secretary of the Youth League "

 He added : "You will notice that all the Six(6) geo political zones are represented in these people that will coordinate the youths league for us for just this season."

The holder of certificate of Sports Management added that the committee are at the planning stage and the time for the commencement of the league will be at the mid season break. Then, play off will Crown it all to know the national champions from each zone.


: "The time will be during the mid season break. Then, there will be zonal play off where each zone will produce a champion and the zonal champions .Then, zonal champions will now converge in a particular venue at a later date to determine the Champions of National Premier Youth League". The Youth League will serve as the growth centre to develop the next generation of NPFL Players as some get older and others move abroad. This way, we would have a transition structure and also provide the country with options in youth development football at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels” the graduate of Obafemi Awolowo told the critical stakeholders domiciled in the platform.
