... We will Stick to Suraj Umar Baba Led Management Committee
By: Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR)
Following the dissolution of Management of Katsina United by the state governments dated October 10, 2023, as contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Sports, Mallam Yusuf Rabiu-Jirdede, the NFF has informed the newly inuaugurated Interim Management Committee that Nigeria Premier Football League does not recognize such nomenclature as it has no place in the rule book of Club Football.
According to a letter sent to Katsina United Football Club, dated 24th October, 2023 and signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Chief Davidson Owunmi. The memo reads in part:
"it has come to our attention that an interim Management Committee has been appointed to take over the management of Katsina United FC on temporary basis"
"Please be advised that the Nigeria Premier Football League does not recognize this appointment of an Interim Management Committee as it is contrary to extant rules governing the administration of football club in Nigeria, specifically, the personnel and administrative criteria of the NFF- Club Licensing Regulations".
Consequent on the above, the Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League will only recognize the officials listed whose names and credentials were submitted during the Club Licensing exercise for the 2023/2024 season unless a substantive appointment is made and the appointed officials are registered in accordance with Club Licensing requirements..."
Stem from the above stated club licensing registration procedures, Suraj Umar Baba remains the Chairman of Katsina United Football Club dully recognized by the Nigeria Football Federation for seamless administrative procedures in line with global best practices .
