Gateway FC Appoints Omiponle As New Technical Adviser

Gateway have appointed Omiponle Samson as their new Technical Adviser, ahead of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League, NNL, campaign 



The statement describes Omiponle as an experienced tactician, whose knowledge of the NNL transcends the tier with players development philosophy drive. The former Ekiti United , Stationery Stores and Warri Wolves is a double UEFA B Licensed Coach with a result driven instinct. 


According to the release by the Ogun State Football outfit:

"Gateway United is thrilled to announce the appointment of Samson Omiponle as the club new Head Coach".

"The agreement with Coach Omiponle entails a year contract set to run until the conclusion of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League Season".

"We firmly believe that his passion for the game, tactical acumen and commitment to player development align perfectly with Gateway United's vision  and values". Said Acting General Manager, Niyi Soleye.



"Omiponle will thus be assisted by Rasheed Bamgbose as Ist Assistant Coach, Emmanuel Bamidele as Second Assistant Coach and Amuda Olatunji as Goalkeepers trainer"

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our immediate past coach ,Toyin Ayinla for his remarkable contributions during his tenure which expired at the end of the last season. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."The statement concluded

Alleged Poor Officiating; Kano Pillars/3SC Match Officials Suspended, Nasarawa/Rangers Referee

Three referees in Nigeria have been sanctioned for offences related to  improper handling of matches assigned to them.  In week 8 matches of the NPFL, three of the referees who handled two different matches have been suspended indefinitely by the NFF Referees Committee.  While Mohammed B Tuta of Adamawa and Benue's Ben Japhet, Referee and Assistant Referee 1, respectively of the Kano Pillars vs Shooting Stars game were punished for what the NFF Referees Committee accused them of "acting in manners outside the provisions of the laws of the game and brings the game into disrepute", the letter signed by the  Committee secretary, Ameenu Mohammed indicated that the Nassarawa against Rangers referee, Ikechukwu Taiwo of Rivers State was sanctioned for awarding "unjustified penalty" awarded. The three referees were suspended indefinitely.

Shooting Stars unveil new signings, departed players

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, have confirmed the signing of eight fresh legs to beef up their squad for the second  round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.  A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.  Some of the new acquisions mentioned include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars,  Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.  Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.  Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.  In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume....
