Niger Tornadoes Retain 27, Drops 13 Players
Abubakar Bala, Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes has retained 27 players from his squad that missed out on the Nigeria Premier League Super 6 playoff spot.
The Ikon Allah boys finished 6th on the log in Group A during the Abridge League season with 23points and were four points short of Sunshine Stars who qualified for the playoff as the third-best team in the group with 27 points.
Out of the 18 matches played, Tornadoes recorded 6 victories, 5 draws, and 7 losses, scoring 16 goals and conceding the same amount of goals.
On Wednesday in Minna, Abubakar Bala after a brief meeting with the management of the Niger State Ministry of Sports informed of the development.
"I want to confirm to you that, I have set things in motion for Tornadoes to begin its preparations early ahead of the kickoff of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League season.
"I had a meeting with the Niger State Ministry of Sports, where I informed them of my choice to retain 27 players from my squad while 13 have been put in the transfer market as they are a surplus requirement for the team."
Recall in May, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Mohammed on behalf of the Tornadoes Management Committee (TMC) handed over the affairs of the team to the Sports Ministry.
