Holistic Appraisal of Few Disciplined Coaches In NPFL And their Styles



... A Case Sudy of Technical Adviser of Gombe United FC, Coach Aliyu Zubairu

Football coaches are very many in Nigeria but the word discipline is very germane in making difference out of many.


Coaches coordinate, instruct, motivate and organize football teams and depending on experience, qualifications, and interests, they may work with children, adults, non-professionals or professional players.

 Football Coaches train, determine game plans and tactics, and inspire players.

Their main duties cut across on field and off pitch 

They Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions.

Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes and opposing teams.

Plan strategies and choose team members for each competition.

Direct, encourage, and motivate athletes to prepare them for competitions.

This no doubt depends on experience, qualifications and particularly their philosophy and tradition in adopting their capacity for winning formula.  This has to do with the enabling environment.

This week, attention will be shifted to a very silent and disciplined tactician who a lot of people regarded as Mr Integrity due to his incorruptible nature.


Coach Aliyu Zubairu started with Kwara United feeder youth team in middle
2000 and won the State FA cup twice with the team. He got to quarter finals of the FA cup in 2009 . Coach Zubairu Promoted the feeder team to NLO .

He later Coached KWARA UNITED as Chief coach for three seasons where he promoted the team to Premier league in 2017 -2018 season . He won Aiteo Cup with Akwa United in 2018 season as the chief coach . 

He navigated his way and became the TA of Wikki Tourist in 2019 and much later proceeded to Gombe United and promoted the team From NNL to Premier League in 2020 / 2021 season .

Coach Aliyu Zubairu is technically sound and morally disciplined both off and outside the field of play and he plays a very dynamic modern day football

He is arguably one of the best tacticians and a disciplined coache presently in NPFL. I want someone to hint me if this coach has ever involved in under hand deal.

He is a coach that loves to  feature under 17 Youth players in NPFL and his team comprises relatively young talented players,in short ,he loves developing young players .

He discovered the likes of Moruf Yusuf ,Ismail Gata and Issa Gata,to mention  but few.Even Aminu Mohammed the present under 20 Star, was discovered by him from an unknown team in Kano to break into premiership team at a very tender age.

New Dawn as Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Oyo State Chapter Supports Delivery of Women’s football Development Initiatives, WFDI Project

Recording high level of compliance from coaches across 33 local government of the state as Proponent of Women’s football Development Initiatives projects WFDI in the state.
