FOAOOS celebrates HOS, PS and Other Retired/Retiring Administrative officers

It was a celebration of meritorious Service with a difference in Ibadan on Wednesday as the Forum of Administrative Officers of Oyo State (FOAOOS) held its retirement programme at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat in honour of both retiring and retired Administrative Officers in the Civil Service of Oyo State.


The event was specifically designed to appreciate the "senior citizens" for their unparalleled commitment and dedication to the Cadre was full of glitz and glamour.



The retired administrative officers and the serving ones used the occasion as an opportunity for a reunion. In fact, presence of some past Chairmen at the occasion like Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni , Mr Dotun Omokemi at the high table electrified the venue.

The chairman of the forum, Mr.  Kayode Victor Muyiwa popularly known as Maestro, in his welcome address stated that the event was the association’s way of appreciating the heroic deeds of the retired and retiring Admin Officers so as to further sustain and build on the success of the Forum. 


“We can't quantify the efforts of our Head of Service, the Permanent Secretaries and Directors who have served meritoriously at various capacity in the state. This is our unique way of honoring our heroes so as to sustain and build on the success of the last last Exco. Maestro noted




The Chairman of the event who doubles as Guest Speaker on the topic : Civil Service Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Chief Femi Akanmu while taking the group to memory lane explained the past struggles the Forum had had at different dispensation and then charged them to remain steadfast and dedicated in their duties despite the prevailing economic challenges in the state and country at large, reiterating that the success of any administration depends on the quality of administrative officers in the service. According to him :"An administrator is a distinguished officer and a noble one as they are the heartbeat of any government. He added that the job shouldn’t be about money as the thinking should be about impacting life and building the state ".



At their separate remarks, the celebrants fondly expressed their defining moments in the Service and it was a good old day memories for the awardees. 


 Also, the immediate past Chairman of the forum, Mr Dotun Omokemi charged the administrators to always remain upright and focused and put in their best at all times adding that they are the ones that run the government.


The outgoing Head of Service, Alhaja Amidat Ololade Agboola in her speech described Chief Femi Akanmu as epitome of wisdom and thanked him for his thoughtfulness and uprightness. The number one Civil Servant then urged the administrative officers to embrace professionalism and equip themselves for the modern day tasks, charging them to be honest and hardworking and ensure they remain relevant in their line of duty. She noted challenges faced during posting of officers and what qualities they consider before each posting was finally done.


“The job of Admin Officers transcends what people think on the surface. I think its very noble for each Admin Officer to build a good human relation with other cadres as anyone could be of help at anytime. Each Admin officer must know everything and be able and willing to do the job. It's time members further equip themselves and play above board,” she said.

Her Honour, Alhaja Agboola finally thanked Forum for the support she is enjoying during her tenure and advocates better synergy for whoever emerges as the next Head of Service.


Earlier, the Forum ran a Medical Check up for the participants, while Health Talks were handled by the representative of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, OYSHIA, Mr Stephen Dauda.and a Radiologist from the University College Hospital, UCH, Mr Abidoye Akinwande extensively talked on the Causes and Prevention of Cancer saying lack of physical exercise, and the probability of causing cancer to be recaptured as 
Mutiple damage and irritation of skin could lead to cancer. That is multiple ear piercing could lead to cancer,poor diet and other factors may trigger the diseases and advised members to eat more of fruits and vegetables with regular exercise.


In her vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Planning Committee who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Forum, Mrs Olajumoke Adebiyi appreciated everyone that graced the event for their time and expressed hope that the event will further spur administrators in the Oyo state Civil Service to give their all while in the service and do their best at all times in the discharge of their duties.


The event which was climaxed with the presentation of gifts and group photographs was attended by retired and serving Civil Servants . The Director of Admin and Supplies at the Accountant General 's Office harped on the importance of commitment, team work and good human relationship among public officers.

The efforts of our heroes past shall not be in vain
