Oyo FA Congratulates GSM, Advocates formation of Female Football Club In the State

Headship of Oyo State Football Association under the able leadership of its Chairman, Alakinyele of Akinyele, HRM Iba James Odeniran, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Oluwaseyi Makinde on his re election as the Governor of the State and implores him to establish a female football club as requested by stakeholders in the state.
This was contained in a Communique issued on Monday 24th April, 2023 after their extensive deliberations at the year 2023 Oyo State Football Association Extra Ordinary General Assembly Congress held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan. According to the release;
. The Congress congratulated His Excellency, *Eng.* Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for his *landslide* victory in the last election and *prayed* for a successful second *term* in office.
. The Congress passed a vote of confidence on Oyo State Football Association under the leadership of His Royal Highness Oba James Oluyemi Odeniran (FIFA RTD) for the development of the game of football in the *state* and for its contributions towards the success of the *clubs* representing the *state* *at national* *competitions* / *leagues* .
. The Congress reinstated her commitment to the development of football at grassroots and taking of football to greater heights in the state.
. The Congress congratulated the new leadership of Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Oyo State Chapter Coach Akinola Olatunji and stressed further for unity among all football coaches in the state.
The Congress congratulated the New Officers of Oyo State Referees Council; headed by Professor Dele Ladipo and enjoined the Council to strive hard to train more referees at the divisions that lack referees in the state.
. The Congress implored the Oyo State Government to hearken to the voice of the Football Stakeholders in the state through formation of female football Clubs which has been long overdue. That the State should emulate other states in the federation such as: Osun, Ondo, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Nassarawa and see this as empowerment of female youth and footballers in the state.
The Congress changed the name Zonal Football Associations to *Divisional* Football Associations:Then, Saki and Eruwa Zonal Football Associations to Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa Divisional *Football* Associations respectively.
The Congress agreed on changing to five (5) members for each of the five divisional football associations instead of the former three (3).
The Congress endorsed the following competitions/leagues as Annual OYSFA Football Programmes:
a. Oyo State Football Leagues.
b. Oyo State Under Age Football Leagues.
c. Oyo State Veterans Football Competitions.
d. Oyo State Academy Football Leagues.
e. Pre-Season Tournaments and Seminars.
f. Divisional Leagues such as IFA League, Oyo Divisional Football League, Ogbomoso Divisional Football League, Oke-Ogun Divisional Football League and Ibarapa Divisional Football League .
. The Congress agreed on annual registration of football clubs, football academies, football coaches and referees in order to have their data base and their current status for efficient and effective coordination at the state headquarters of the soccer ruling house.
The Congress warned coaches and non-professionals to desist from officiating matches; instead, called for the engagement of uniformed and certified referees in order to be impacting The Laws of The Game effectively to the players.
The Congress reinstated that under no circumstances should any organizers or football promoters or coaches organize any football competitions, football trials or programmes without prior approval from the Divisional FA, or OYSFA depending on type of the competition and that any club, player, coach or referee that takes part in any illegal competitions will be appropriately sanctioned.
The Congress appreciated SWAN for their great roles in developing the Game ànd at the same time implored them to be requesting for OYSFA approval of competitions, trials or scouting programmes before making the announcement of such football programmes.
