A Nigerian Sports Administrator, Tobobok Okowa emerges New President of African Athletics Region II West Africa

Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission who doubles as President, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa has emerged as the new President of the African Athletics Region Two (AAR2), West Africa.


The Delta State Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development hoisted the Nigerian flag in the continent on Saturday, January 14th 2023 in Accra, the capital of Ghana during the extraordinary congress of the AAR2 defeating Benin Republic Opponent, Vierin De Gon ,polling a total of nine votes as against six votes by his opponent in a keenly contested election.

The emergence of a fair skinned Nigerian administrator in the new position of the Vice-President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) will further confer his expertise and intellectual acumen of the graduate of sports administration in the continent 

Okowa, who just led the Delta State to emerge as the back to back champions of the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival held in Asaba Delta State after their victory in Edo State in the the year 2021 will transverse his uncommon skills for the common benefits of the members nations.

 He is no doubt a vibrant sports administrator, President of the AFN and Chairman, and Marketing Committee of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) with enviable records

Okowa has invested hugely in sports in Nigeria as he is the owner of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Apex Krane Football Club. He is also a Chairman of Delta Force FC and former Vice-Chairman, Delta State Football Association.
