NSF Delta 2022: FFCN President, Ambassador Ogunfuwa Congratulates Delta State Govt On Successful Hosting.

According to the CAF Award winning Supporters Club Boss, Ogunfuwa, who spoke through the National Media Officer of the group,  *Sunday Agunbiade (Mr VAR)*,  said she was monitoring every news churned out on daily basis by the powerful media team put up by the state government and impressed by the organizers of the 21st edition of the Nigeria version of Olympics which ended on Saturday (yesterday) amidst fanfare.


Delta State hosted and won the festival for a record extended four consecutive times with a total of 648 medals including 320 gold, 200 silver and 128 bronze medals. 

According to the graduate of University of Lagos matriarch,  she said: "On behalf of the entire members of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN, I Congratulate the Delta State government, particularly the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state,Chief Tonobok Okowa for successfully hosting the 21st edition of National Sports Festival. 

I think, with the visual I have watched on TV, I observed that the State government has provided a state of art sporting infrastructure which is a catalyst for sports development in the country. Also, the good people of Delta state for their warmth and hospitable ambience making the state congenial for over 24,000 athletes, officials,and media men. You have done well". Member of Lagos State Women Football Committee enthused. 

The Ogun State born business tycoon further heaped praises on security media Committee, facilities, medical, environmental, accommodation, feeding technical,ceremonial, transport and other logistic Committees for a job well done .

"I was extremely impressed by Delta state, the good people, particularly the various Committees for the job well done. They were all exceptionally brilliant. The organisers were on top of their games as the state government provided standard sporting infrastructure for the festival. They have set a standard that Ogun.state will consolidate upon and I  believe my state will be more sucesful .Assured the sports administrator.


"It is my earnest prayer that God Almighty grant all the athletes, officials, media  security and other Committee members back home safely amen" She prayed

The most highly rated fiesta climaxed with closing ceremony held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, the state's capital where the Minister of Youth and Sports development,Chief Sunday Dare declared Ogun State as next host, putting their neighbouring state,Oyo on standby.


Overall, Team Delta topped the overall medals table with a haul of 648 medals comprising 320 gold, 200 Silver, 128 bronze, while team Bayelsa dethroned Edo to finish second with a total of 337 medals, 132 gold, 115 silver and 90 bronze, the highest number of medals won in the history of the state.Edo were distant third amassing 339 medals: 78 gold, 94 silver, 167 bronze. Oyo State came 4th with 163 medals: 50 gold, 51 Silver, 62 bronze, as Lagos finished 5th with 172 medals, 41 gold, 57 Silver, 74 bronze. Rivers,Kano, Ogun and FCT all occupied 6th to 10th position.

Zamfara finished bottom with no medal, as Gombe recorded 6 bronze, Sokoto got 3 medals: 1 silver, 2 bronze.

Ogun State was officially announced as hosts of the 22nd National Sports Festival in 2024 where the FFCN Boss hails from as neighbouring Oyo State is on standby.
